Paul Hartung, President and CEO

Paul is a longtime life sciences executive with a proven track record in launching successful startup businesses and leading Fortune 500 organizations. He has extensive experience in the laser and medical device industries, including managing manufacturing for Summit Technology, Inc., a leading developer of the LASIK procedure and other laser eye correction procedures.

Prior to Neuroptix, Paul was Vice President of Operations at Winphoria Networks, a successful mobile communications startup acquired by Motorola. Before that he was Senior Director at 3Com Corporation, where he was involved in a number of mergers and acquisitions, and directed global operations and new product introductions. At Trumpf, he developed high power automated laser systems for industrial applications. As Director of R&D at Laser Fare Ltd., he developed new laser processing techniques for the medical device industry and other applications. Paul started his career as an Advanced Manufacturing Engineer at General Electric Company. He graduated from MIT with an MS Degree in Mechanical Engineering. He received the FW Taylor Award of the CIRP for his research.

Tom Trometer, Chief Financial Officer

With over 25 years of experience, and with a strong track record in CFO leadership positions, Tom is responsible for the financial management of Neuroptix’s operations. In this role he provides oversight for the financial management of the business, directs the corporate treasury function, establishes the protocols and standards for internal reporting, including Human Resources, and assists in building the business model and plan, shareholder communication, and risk management for the company. Prior to forming his own practice, he was VP Finance and CFO of CableSoft, and was instrumental in raising capital and selling the company to Motorola.  Before CableSoft, Tom was VP of Finance and Treasurer of Opta Food Ingredients, a public company, and was instrumental in raising over $40M in equity funds. He was also a manager in the Middle Market and Growing Companies Division of Price Waterhouse Coopers.  Tom is a CPA with a BS in accounting from Canisius College in Buffalo, NY.

Evan Sherr, Vice President, Product Management

Evan Sherr is responsible for the areas of Product Management and Clinical Development. Prior to joining Neuroptix, he was Executive Director of Clinical Research and Development and Executive Director of Surgical Business at Cynosure for the last 10 years, responsible for their surgical business unit and clinical department; and managed development and commercialization of dermatology, otolaryngology, gastrointestinal, orthopedic and ophthalmology products. Mr. Sherr has extensive experience in business development, including creating a strategic alliance with Pentax Corporation, resulting in a new product and market initiative. Prior to Cynosure, he was a Research and Development Scientist at Summit Technology.

Vincent Valvo, Vice President, Engineering and Product Development

Vincent is responsible for technical project management, product development, and software engineering.   He has twenty-five years leadership experience in product development of embedded real-time medical devices, data management systems and networking products.

Prior to joining Neuroptix, Vincent was CEO of V Squared Computing, a medical software development and project management company that he founded, whose customers included pharmaceutical, chemistry and cardiology companies and research institutions.

Before his tenure as CEO of V Squared, Vincent was Vice President of Research and Development at Aurora Technologies, an engineering company that developed connectivity products. At Bayer Diagnostics, Vincent served as Software Development Manager, where he directed the software development for blood gas analyzers and laboratory data management products. Before Bayer, Vincent was Principal Software Engineer at CardioData Corp., a startup company that developed ambulatory EKG analysis instruments and data management systems, which were used for major international drug studies and clinical diagnostics.

Anne Cameron, Director, Marketing and Clinical Strategy

Anne has 18 years experience in the pharmaceutical and diagnostics industry including research and development, marketing, regulatory and business development. At GE Healthcare, she led the Alzheimer’s disease PET imaging initiative, and was instrumental in business development deals with Roche and Eli Lilly.  Prior to GE, she held senior management positions at Roche. She has launched products within psychiatry and neurology. She has developed global strategies for product development in Alzheimer’s disease both for therapeutics and diagnostics. Anne has during her years working in psychiatry and neurology worked with a number of key opinion molders and advocacy groups and composed and directed more than 50 advisory board meetings. She has produced various publications within the field of CNS.

Ginny Kapner, General Counsel

From 1997 until she joined Neuroptix in 2006, Ginny was a Senior Partner in the corporate law department of the law firm of Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr LLP, where she served as a member of the Hiring Committee and the Public Service Committee. She was a founding member of the firm's WilmerHale Venture Group, which provides legal advice to emerging venture-backed companies. Ginny's legal practice at WilmerHale focused on advising both public and private companies in the areas of securities law, venture capital and other financing, mergers and acquisitions, technology licensing and other strategic transactions, and corporate governance.

She has served as Co-Chair of the Corporate Law Section of the Boston Bar Association and on the Association's Corporate Governance Task Force as well as on a number of advisory boards. Ginny is listed in the 2007 Edition of the Best Lawyers in America. She received a B.A. from Yale College and a J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law.
