Paul Hartung, President and CEO

Paul is a longtime life sciences executive with a proven track record in launching successful startup businesses and leading Fortune 500 organizations. He has extensive experience in the laser and medical device industries, including managing manufacturing for Summit Technology, Inc., a leading developer of the LASIK procedure and other laser eye correction procedures.

Prior to Neuroptix, Paul was Vice President of Operations at Winphoria Networks, a successful mobile communications startup acquired by Motorola. Before that he was Senior Director at 3Com Corporation, where he was involved in a number of mergers and acquisitions, and directed global operations and new product introductions. At Trumpf, he developed high power automated laser systems for industrial applications. As Director of R&D at Laser Fare Ltd., he developed new laser processing techniques for the medical device industry and other applications. Paul started his career as an Advanced Manufacturing Engineer at General Electric Company. He graduated from MIT with an MS Degree in Mechanical Engineering. He received the FW Taylor Award of the CIRP for his research.

Dr. Richard D. Gill, Director

Launchpad Venture Group investor. President & CEO of ProNAi Therapeutics, a cancer therapy development company. Was President and CEO of Signet Laboratories, Inc. an evidence-based medicine company (EviMed) commercializing predictive reagents, diagnostics and preventive drugs and therapies, which was acquired by Covance. Was President and CEO position at AnVil; built & executed on new service & revenue share business strategy and acquired the assets.  As President and CEO position at ActiveCyte; built the operations through development and execution of the business strategy, and licensed the assets to a major publishing house Wolters Klower. As President and COO position at Genome Therapeutics; took GENE through repositioning & successful follow on financing (now NASDAQ. OSCI). Was SVP & General Manager of British Technology Group, establishing BTG USA in North America. Was Company Research and Development Manager at Unilever.

Dr. Lee Goldstein, MD, PhD, Director

Dr. Goldstein is currently a member of the faculty of Boston University, in the Departments of Psychiatry, Ophthalmology, Neurology, Pathology, and Laboratory Medicine, as well as the College of Engineering in the Department of Biomedical Engineering. He is also a member of the research faculty at the Photonics Center of Boston University. Prior to joining Boston University, Dr. Goldstein was Assistant Professor of Psychiatry, Harvard Medical School; Director, Molecular Aging & Development Lab and Center for Biomedical Metallomics at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Boston.  Dr. Goldstein is a board-certified psychiatrist who specializes in geriatric psychiatry at the Brigham & Women's and Massachusetts General Hospitals.  Dr. Goldstein received his medical and doctoral (Neuroscience) degrees from Yale University and is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Columbia University.   Dr. Goldstein conducted advanced postdoctoral research in AD and cataract pathophysiology at Harvard.    He discovered beta amyloid in the lens of Alzheimer’s subjects and continues world leading research in ocular diagnosis of Alzheimer’s and other neurodegenerative diseases.
